What is the DPDP Act?
The Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 is India's primary law governing how organizations collect, use, store, and protect digital personal data.
The Act applies to processing of digital personal data in India and to offshore processing connected with offering goods or services to individuals in India.
It introduces roles such as Data Fiduciary and Data Principal, sets consent and notice requirements, defines data principal rights, and establishes penalties enforced by the Data Protection Board.
